Horror maestro Vikram Bhatt is all set to expand his cult supernatural universe with a brand-new instalment titled 1920: Cold Winter. The announcement has already sparked buzz among horror fans, especially after the filmmaker shared the first-look poster on Instagram, teasing a darker and colder turn in the iconic franchise.
The film will be produced by Anand Pandit, with co-production from Roopa Pandit and Rahul V Dubey, and is written and directed by Vikram Bhatt himself. In his announcement, Bhatt highlighted the continued success of his collaboration with Anand Pandit, hinting at a growing horror universe that includes upcoming projects like Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past alongside this new chapter.
The 1920 franchise has long been a staple of Indian horror storytelling. It began in 2008 with 1920, starring Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma, which introduced audiences to a haunted manor and a disturbing possession storyline. The saga continued with 1920: The Evil Returns in 2012, featuring Aftab Shivdasani, Tia Bajpai, Vidya Malvade, and Sharad Kelkar, further cementing the franchise’s eerie reputation.
More recently, Bhatt continued exploring supernatural themes with Haunted 3D, starring Mimoh Chakraborty and others, backed by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and a strong production team. Released in 2026, the film added another layer to Bhatt’s signature horror style, blending psychological fear with modern visual effects.
With 1920: Cold Winter, expectations are high for a fresh yet terrifying narrative that stays true to the franchise’s legacy while introducing new scares for a new generation. If the teaser buzz is anything to go by, audiences may be in for one of the coldest—and creepiest—entries in Indian horror cinema yet.
