Four years after GodFather arrived in theatres, director Mohan Raja took a moment to look back at the Telugu political action thriller and thank the people who made the journey special. Marking the film's fourth anniversary on October 5, the filmmaker shared a heartfelt message for leading star Chiranjeevi and his massive fan base. The film, which released on October 5, 2022, remains an important collaboration between the director and the Telugu superstar.
Taking to X on the occasion, Mohan Raja wrote, “#4yearsforGodfather Always thankful to THE MEGASTAR and the Mega fans”. The short but emotional message highlighted the director's gratitude towards Chiranjeevi, whom he referred to as “THE MEGASTAR”, as well as the fans who supported the film. For a project led by one of Telugu cinema's most celebrated stars, the connection with the audience was always a major part of its journey.
GodFather featured Chiranjeevi in the titular role, with Nayanthara and Satyadev in key roles. The film also featured Salman Khan in a special appearance, marking the Bollywood superstar's Telugu debut. His cameo became one of the talking points around the movie, adding an extra dose of star power to a political drama that was already headlined by Chiranjeevi.
Directed by Mohan Raja, GodFather was the official Telugu remake of the 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer. The story revolves around a powerful political leader's death and the intense succession battle that follows, as different forces fight to control the party and its political future. Chiranjeevi's character finds himself at the centre of this power struggle, giving the actor an opportunity to step into a dramatic role packed with political intrigue, action and larger-than-life moments.
The film was produced by R. B. Choudary and N. V. Prasad under the Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films banners. Thaman S composed the music, while cinematographer Nirav Shah handled the visuals. Released during the festive season in October 2022, GodFather generated considerable interest because of its star cast, Malayalam original and the much-awaited collaboration between Chiranjeevi and Mohan Raja.
Now, four years later, Mohan Raja's anniversary post has once again brought GodFather into the spotlight. His simple thank-you to Chiranjeevi and the Mega fans reflects the lasting bond between the filmmaker, the superstar and his audience. As fans revisit memories of the political action drama, the fourth anniversary gives them another chance to celebrate Chiranjeevi's larger-than-life presence and the team behind GodFather.
