Rakul Preet Singh has finally addressed reports linking her name to the recent Income Tax searches in Mumbai. The actor took to Instagram to issue a strongly worded clarification, saying that the search was not related to her and expressing disappointment over what she described as sensationalised and unverified reports. Rakul also firmly denied any involvement in alleged illegal foreign remittances or benami properties.

Sharing an official statement on social media, Rakul Preet Singh wrote, "It's heartbreaking to see that There's a growing trend amongst the self styled online reporters and some main stream media journalists to sensationalise the news without verifying facts. Let's therefore set the record straight once for all. The search was not pertaining to me . Let it be known that I am from the Armed Forces background & had no Godfather in the Industry. I have come up through sheer hardwork & as a responsible law abiding citizen have been paying my due taxes since the age of 20 years. I am not involved in any kind of illegal Foreign remittance in personal capacity or on behalf of any Production house. I would also add here that I do not hold any Benami property on behalf of anyone anywhere in the country or abroad. Neither ANYONE has EVER gifted me any property at anytime nor do l accept such expensive gifts as a principle. I urge all those who published these false, malicious and speculative reports to retract them and clarify the facts. I understand that everyone running a media business however big has their own commercial pressures. But it cannot come at the cost of facts. And certainly not at the cost of someone's reputation and livelihood.”

Rakul's clarification comes in the wake of reports about Income Tax department searches at multiple locations in Mumbai in late September 2026. According to reports, the investigation is looking into suspected financial irregularities and allegations surrounding the possible diversion of film financing funds overseas by showing them as international production expenses. The searches reportedly involved premises linked to production companies, including Panorama Studios, as well as veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani, who is Rakul's father-in-law.

In her statement, however, Rakul has made it clear that she was not the subject of the search. She also highlighted her background, pointing out that she comes from an Armed Forces family and entered the film industry without a “Godfather”. The actor further stated that she has been paying her taxes since the age of 20 and strongly denied holding any benami property or accepting expensive property as gifts.

The actor's statement also takes aim at reports that, according to her, connected her personally to allegations of illegal foreign remittances and financial wrongdoing. Rather than simply dismissing the reports, Rakul urged publications that carried what she called false, malicious and speculative stories to retract them and clarify the facts. She acknowledged the commercial pressures faced by media organisations but stressed that such pressures should not come at the expense of factual reporting or an individual's reputation and livelihood.

Rakul's post has now put her own position on record as questions continue around the wider Income Tax investigation. While the reported searches involve various production and business entities, the actor has categorically stated that the action was not pertaining to her. Her detailed response is likely to draw further attention as the investigation progresses, but for now, Rakul has used her social media platform to directly address the reports and distance herself from the allegations being circulated.
